Services

Please contact us for pricing details on any of our fitness and athletic development services listed.

  • Performance-Based Personal Training

Our Performance-based Personal Training is designed for the client that values individual attention and desires a program designed specifically for them.  All fitness components are addressed including strength training, cardiovascular training, core training, balance, flexibility, injury prevention, nutrition and body composition.  These programs can be purchased individually or with a partner.

  • Metabolic Testing

Everyone likes to talk about their metabolism.  Is it good or bad, high or low, fast or slow.  Now, in a simple 10 minute test where you simply sit quietly and breath into our ReeVue Metabolic Analyzer (Korr Technologies) you can have your metabolism quantified for you.  Using indirect calorimetry (oxygen in vs. carbon dioxide out) the Reevue unit measures how many calories your body burns at rest.  While this is a very important number to know for anyone counting calories, it is also important to track over time to see the impact of your nutritional plans and workout routines on your metabolism.  You do not need to be a First Team Fitness client to sign up for this test.

  • CardioCoach Testing

The CardioCoach test requires that you breath into a mask while walking/running on a treadmill.   The test measures how efficiently your body utilizes oxygen and determines the most effective heart rate that you should be training at to get the most out of your aerobic workouts.  We can then design easy, medium and hard intensity training by incorporating both steady-state and interval programs.  You do not need to be a First Team Fitness client to sign-up for this test.

  • Physical Therapy Step-Down Program

Physical Therapy Step-Down programs are designed for the individual who has just been discharged from physical therapy but is concerned about safely maintaining and progressing on their own.  Because of our experience working in a physical therapy setting and our relationship with many of the local physical therapists, we believe this is one of our flagship services.  In additioning to continuing to work with and safely progress the orthopedic condition that was being treated, we design and implement with our step-down clients a comprehensive, full body fitness program.  The reason for this is that we understand that the body is not made up of independent body parts that should be treated in isolation but rather that each body part is a link on an integrated chain.  So, at First Team Fitness, we "train the chain".

  • Transitions Lifestyle System

Transitions is a low-glycemic eating plan (not a diet) developed by Dr. Shari Lieberman Ph.D, Certified Nutrition Specialist and a Fellow of the American College of Nutrition.  The Transition Lifestyle System is a 12 week DVD based course that is facilitated by a First Team Fitness Performance Specialist in a group setting.  You do not need to be a First Team Fitness client to sign-up.

  • Athletic Development Training

Our Athletic Development programs are designed for the competitive athlete who wants to raise his/her level of athleticism in order to compete at the highest level possible.  We accomplish this by designing individual training programs that utilize "sport approppriate" exercises and drills.  We use the term "sport appropriate" vs. "sport specific", which has now become an industry buzzword, because most exercises that take place in a weight room are not specific to a sport.  For example, the only sport that the bench press is "specific" to is the sport of Powerlifting.  However, it is "appropriate" for most athletes to perform the bench press as one of their main strength exercises.  Each program starts with an assessment of the athlete's current abilities and is compared to a needs analysis of the sport in which they compete.  Goals are established and from there the program is designed.  While one-on-one training typically yields better results than group training, we encourage partner training where possible with our athletes.  Injury prevention strategies are included in all of our Athletic Development programs.

  • Return-To-Sport Program

This program is similar to our Physical Therapy Step-Down program but it is intended specifically for athletes.  An athlete is typically discharged from Physical Therapy when they have completed the standard treatment protocol, are pain free, have full range of motion and/or that their affected limb performs within an acceptable range, for example 90%, of their non-affected limb on functional tests.  However, this does not mean that the athlete is at the same level he/she was prior to the injury.  They may have experienced an overall loss of speed, strength and the ablility to produce force (explode).  Almost inevitably, their conditioning will have suffered.  We have had great success, working in coordination with the referring Physical Therapist, in preparing the athlete to return-to-sport as strong or stronger than before they were injured.

  • Leadership Seminars for Scholastic Athletes

Our Leadership Development Program is a new service we are developing and will roll out in 2008.  We believe that there are many life lessons that can be learned through sport and leadership is one of them.  Ultimately, our Leadership Program will be a three-tiered program.  Athletes will have the choice, but not be required, to do all three.  The first tier will be a three hour workshop where we will address Attitude, Teamwork and Leadership in an interactive setting.  The second tier will be a 12 hour class, broken down into 2 hour sessions held once-a-week for 6 weeks.  The third tier will be a 4 day/3 night Leadership Retreat that will feature team building and leadership activities such as a ropes course, etc.  The work of John Maxwell, an expert and best selling author on leadership, and founder of Maximum Impact, an organization dedicated to helping people reach their leadership potential, will serve as the basis for our programs.
